Right on the border of Humboldt and Wicker Park stands a Latina women-owned retail/vintage shop where every rack or shelf is a different collector, crafter, or local maker, with 30+ vendors represented overall.
Please join us at this magical collective for an evening of community storytelling (and come early to check out their remarkable inventory!)
Arrive at 6:45 to sign up for a spot, and when your name is called, you will get 7 minutes on stage to share any story you'd like. (Late arrivals can sign up as long as there are spots still available.
- No experience necessary to participate. All ages welcome.
- All material welcome except hate speech of any sort.
- No pressure, judgement, critiques, or scoring.

About Your Hosts
Alanis Zoë Castillo Caref is a writer-poet activist from Chicago. She was a finalist for the 2021 Undergraduate Creative Writing Awards at UIUC and won second place in The Hip Hop Workshop 2022 Spoken-Word Competition. She also has poetry published in The Fashion Network magazine. Alanis has performed at Story Lab Chicago, Slam Diáspora, Exhibit B, The Chicago Poetry Center, and La Hora de Antojitos. Currently, she is the Marketing Coordinator at the Guild Literary Complex, co-curator of Exhibit B, and host of Do Not Submit Humboldt/Wicker.
Emily Anna Maciel Gonzalez has been a chatterbox since the womb, born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. She is a poet, avid storyteller, advocate for local politics and most importantly a White Sox fan. As of lately she resides in Wicker Park with her pet rabbit, Scorpio. By day she is a bilingual PreK 3-5 teacher and nanny. By night she is a dive bar enthusiast, trivia champion and host of Do Not Submit Humboldt/Wicker.
